JEKL Rules

*All Juniors Organisers and Junior Captains to read

  1. Each team will consist of 6 players and they will play a Fourball Betterball format. The pairings are at the discretion of the Junior Captain and Organiser. The matches are taken off the lowest handicap with 90% of the difference. 90% is taken ONCE THE WHS SLOPE RATING has been accounted for. Home J/O to supply this prior to match.

  2. Ages: Players who are in School Year 6 (last year of Primary School) on September 1st or younger are allowed to play off the ladies red tees if this is where their handicaps have been gained from.  If off the Reds, the juniors (young or Girls) still play from the Mens Par. For older juniors, players must be under 18 by 1st Sept, at the start of the school year with Boys playing from the White tees.

  3. The maximum handicap is 28 for Boys and Girls. WHS and shot allowances then applied.

  4. Stroke allowance for Girls:
    a) With the new WHS, there are equalisation shots; the difference between Mens [WHITE] and Ladies [RED] SSS.
     b) Girls to play off the Ladies Tees and Men’s card (Stroke Index and Par).
5.  The J/Os or Junior Captains will work out and agree the handicap allowances BEFORE the match. If found out to be wrong later, shots and results are not be changed.

6. Any rules issues or scoring problems, Junior Captains to agree and fix, failing this, the Junior Organisers to discuss and agree. Common sense should prevail - this is junior golf remember! Finally the JEKL secretary has the final word.

7. No caddies are allowed, unless a player is under 10. The only contact with players on the course is by the Junior Organiser or equivalent.
* No on-course coaching or other advantages allowed.
* Parents can follow matches at a good distance but have no contact with any players and they must not walk on the fairway [Kent Union policy].
* Player are not to be coached. A warning will be given, but if afterward this rule is not adhered to then the offending players team will forfeit their match.

8. If a team is unable to play three pairs, there is an option for 2 players v 1 . If a team cannot play at least one player against the opposition, then that match is awarded to the other team. (Therefore a team of 6 'could' play a team of 3).

9. Teams will go out in combined handicap order, lowest combined first.

10. The scoring system is 3 points for a home win. 4 points for an away win. 1 point for a home draw, 2 points for an away draw. [2021 COVID SCORING: 3 points for win, 1 point for draw.]
The winner of the league will have amassed most points. In a situation of a tie, then the winner will be the team with most won games, followed by the most Away won games.

11. The JEKL organisers have left the provision of food -either before or after the match- to the individual organisers to arrange including clothing / shoe requirements. During COVID 2021, there is no expectation to serve food, but sociable drinks are welcome.

12. Weather - if due to weather conditions such as thunder, lightening, heaving rain the course is unplayable (judged by J/Os) or closed (Club manager / Pro, for example sounds the Klaxen), then all unfinished games within the match are halved up to Dormi. A Dormi result is included as a Win for the Team that are leading. If a game has finished, then that result stands.

JEKL organisation

  1. All teams must have paid their subscription to the East Kent League, via the League Junior Organiser before they can be included in the league. The League normally commences at the beginning of March each year.

  2. Organised dates need to be with the League Organiser for collation before the start of the season to ensure a full programme of matches is completed. Matches should be played earlier in the year to avoid a back log and a clash with the jamboree which is held in the first weeks of September [2021 COVID year, in October to allow additional time]

  3. The result of a match should be sent via email to the League Secretary James Ivens by the HOME Junior Organiser, as soon as possible. This avoids duplication

  4. The Junior Organisers shall determine the format of the prizes for the league winners and runner up

  5. There are prizes for the winners of the Jamboree.
Jamboree event is a combined team stableford points game. Best 4 players (out of maximum of 6) stableford points count toward the team total. Max handicap same as JEKL at 28.0 (boys and girls). In the event of a draw on the Jamboree day, the best 5 scores are counted, and so on.
